Police condemns the brutal murder in KaMaqhekeza


The Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela has strongly condemned a horrific incident in which a man was brutally murdered and his body loaded in a wheelbarrow. The shocking event occurred at KaMaqhekeza near Tonga on 17 May 2022.

According to reports, police received a call from community members about a body of a man which was seen in a wheelbarrow next to the road around 07h30 am. Medical personnel were also notified about the incident. Upon arrival they found the lifeless body of a man with bruises all over and is believed to be in his early thirties. Unfortunately he was certified dead by the paramedics at the scene.

It is suspected that he could have been attacked. The police in Tonga are probing the reasons for the attack.

A case of murder has been opened but no arrest has been made so far.

Meanwhile the Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela has raised her concerns regarding such incidents whereby members of the public take the law into their own hands. The General has urged to collaborate with police as well as other law enforcement agencies and report to the authorities whenever they witness crime.
